Getting started with OPS
Starting therapy can be intimidating but OPS makes it as straightforward and comfortable as possible.
1
Book your complimentary 20 minute consultation
Connect with the therapist to see if OPS is the right fit for you. The consultation provides an opportunity to briefly describe what has motivated you to reach out for support and also allows you to ask any questions you have about therapy and the therapist. I will also tell you more about OPS, touch on some of my business policies and we'll discuss scheduling options.
2
Complete new client paperwork
There are two forms that you will be asked to complete before our first session. The first is a new client registration form that outlines all of OPS's policies, confidentiality and asks for your informed consent to participate in therapy. The second form is an intake questionnaire that asks you to share your mental and physical health history and to identify your goals for therapy.
3
The first session
The first session is often the most nerve wracking. You can expect our initial meeting to be conversational in nature. We will speak more at length about what has motivated you to start therapy. This session gives me a chance to get to know you, your social history and background and the difficulties you are currently facing. We'll also identify your inner strengths and resources and determine a plan for support. My goal is to make you feel as welcomed and comfortable at all times, but especially during the first session, so that you feel safe to speak openly.
4
Measure progress as we move forward
OPS implements regular check-in surveys to review what we can do differently in sessions, things I can do both more and less of as a therapist to be more helpful, to assess goal progress and determine whether you would like to add or modify existing goals. Remember that the therapy process will always be driven by you and I am always open to suggestions or requests at any time if there is something we can improve upon or do differently.
