Hello!

I'm Rachelle,
the face behind OPS

My name is Rachelle and I am a social worker registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I have experience working across a wide range of community and clinical mental health care settings and have offered both assessment as well as individual and group therapy services to those struggling with grief and loss, chronic health conditions, depression, anxiety, emotion instability concerns and post-traumatic stress disorder.

I work with people who want to transform how they think and feel, manage stress differently, heal from difficult experiences and make lifestyle changes. My goal is not to keep you in intensive therapy forever (unless you would like to stay!) but to teach you the skills you need to surf the waves of life. If and when you are ready, we will shift to maintenance sessions as you continue to apply your new skills.

My therapeutic approach is tailored and often eclectic. I employ elements and techniques from various therapies to personalize service to each and every person I work with. I am compassionate and collaborative to ensure that my clients get the most out of their time with me. If you are serious about feeling better, reach out today and let's get started!

I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in mental health. After I finished my undergraduate degree in psychology, I was left wondering what was next. I went on to complete a post-graduate certificate in mental health and addictions counselling and began working in addiction management and recovery. I also spent a significant amount of time in crisis services.

In 2017 when I started my master's of social work at the University of Toronto, I began to narrow down my population of interest. I found that I really enjoyed my time working in cancer and end of life care. Despite death and loss being an inevitable part of life, there is very little acknowledgement or support for those who are touched by grief and loss. Being able to hold space for someone who is processing loss is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.

I am also passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma and stress and helping people heal in order to live meaningful, fulfilling lives.

I have worked in various public mental health care environments but have found that private practice offers the most professional freedom. Private services make it possible to tailor therapy to each individual's unique needs. I don't believe that therapy is effective when it is a one-size-fits-all approach. Healing happens best when you have a good relationship with your therapist and the therapy space is a comfortable (virtual!) environment.
